Many of us are not on social media but we often get to hear about it---and are sometimes sent screenshots,

Let it suffice to say that the pot shop/cannabis dispensary is getting quite the workout in advance of tonight's planning board meeting:

-------Lots of discussion about "distance rules": It is being said that: As of February 11, 2026, New York State has enacted new legislation (2025-S9155/2025-S7275A) that clarifies and sets the distance requirements for adult-use cannabis retail dispensaries, aiming to put over 100 previously non-compliant shops back into compliance. 

Key Distance Requirements (Effective Feb 11, 2026) Schools: Retail dispensaries must be at least 500 feet from the entrance of a school on the same street.

Houses of Worship: Retail dispensaries must be at least 200 feet from the entrance of a building on the same street used exclusively for worship. 

These numbers are being disputed, and it might be best to get an answer tonight from the planning board directly.

There's also chatter about this "affecting young people".

Also social media chatter advising that Croton residents visit Tarrytown community facebook pages where there has been extensive discussion of their dispensary.
