Perhaps the answer is no more apartments being built unless they provide realistic parking spaces and not this fantasy of one car space per apartment simply because the renter is near the train station, as if they will never need a car for everything else they need to do. Most households have two and three cars. Renters are always complaining on Brook Street about no parking and during snowstorms. And about affordable housing, some people think that if they get affordable meaning low income housing that takes government money, the village can still make the owner give those apartments to Croton people. WRONG! People come to Croton because of its peaceful character, good schools, and private home ownership. Give the parking to the businesses and stop pretending that apartments are "sustainable". They're not.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-787750143375798683.post-20264316562139243232018-06-29T12:28:32.120-04:002018-06-29T12:28:32.120-04:00It's an interesting idea. But I do wonder whether a municipal parking lot near a firehouse would be detrimental to the operations of our firefighters, in terms of more car and pedestrian traffic possibly getting in the way of fire trucks that need to get in and out of the area quickly. And whether that's a safety concern.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
