NEW FROM NYSDEC: CLEAN, DRAIN AND DRY TO PROTECT NEW YORK'S WATERS
Clean, Drain, and Dry to Protect New York’s Waters
As you kick off the boating season, don’t forget to take steps to protect New York’s waters! Aquatic invasive species (AIS) can spread between water bodies by attaching to boats and other water recreation equipment. Once introduced, AIS can harm New York’s ecosystems, economies, and recreation. To keep AIS from spreading, New York State law requires boaters to Clean, Drain, and Dry their boat and equipment before using it in a new water body.
After you pull your boat out of the water:Clean mud, plants, and animals off boats, trailers, fishing gear, and other equipment and discard the material in a trash can or disposal station.
Drain water-holding compartments, including ballast tanks, live wells, and bilge areas, before leaving an access site.
Dry everything completely for five to seven days in dry, warm conditions. If drying isn’t possible, visit a decontamination station to disinfect boats and other equipment with hot water that is at least 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
Want to learn more about how to Clean, Drain, Dry? Look for boat stewards in blue vests at boat launches throughout the state. Boat stewards can answer your questions about AIS, provide a free boat inspection for invasive species, and show you how to Clean, Drain, Dry your watercraft and equipment. Visit the NYS Public Boat Launch Map to find a boat steward near you.

CROTON CHRONICLE---WHY I AM RUNNING FOR TRUSTEE ON THE CROTON DEMOCRATC TICKET--KAREN PECORA
THE CROTON CHRONICLE
BY KAREN PECORA
I am excited to announce my candidacy for the position of Village Trustee in Croton-on-Hudson. With over three decades of public service and union leadership experience, I am eager to bring my dedication, leadership, and collaborative spirit to our Village Board.
I’ve called this beautiful village home for nearly eight years and have loved every minute of it. I still remember one of my first walks down Riverside Avenue, where the Halloween decorations on lampposts — the ghosts, skeletons, and Frankensteins — made me fall in love with the charm and creativity of this community. STACEY NACHTALER---GUEST EDITORIAL--WHY I AM RUNNING FOR TRUSTEE ON THE VOICE OF CROTON TICKET
Please allow me to introduce myself. I’m Stacey Nachtaler, candidate for Croton-on-Hudson Village Board of Trustee. I appreciate a few minutes of your valuable time to share how I am fully dedicated to serving you, and what’s at stake in this November’s election.
My family and I fell in love with Croton three decades ago, and visited often. Our fondest memories involve days and nights enjoying Croton’s parks, trails, restaurants, small businesses, waterfront, and strong sense of community. Living here over the past seven years, we can’t help but notice a deprioritization of those important assets, and a contraction of a transparent, inclusive localized-democracy, by the same few who have been in charge for many terms. Too often, residents' questions, ideas, and concerns are ignored in a variety of board and committee settings.
As a Democrat who has voted for Democrats my whole life, it’s been difficult watching our fellow neighbors feel unheard by the current administration. I have joined with fellow Voice of Croton candidates Gary Eisinger and Nigel Ravelo to offer our village a choice this November. Our platform — a living, breathing menu of priorities shaped by Croton residents from all corners — stems from our unwavering vow to act transparently and include constituents from start to finish.
Here is a sampling of what Voice of Croton has to offer:
We maintain zero conflicts of interest and have no aspirations for personal political gain.
We are not party to any special political interests or influences.
We will aim to put the “public” back in public meetings — agendas will be crafted with constituent input, visible through multiple channels allowing greater than 48 hours for residents to respond to public hearings, new proposals and discourses.
We aim not to unilaterally rule on the fate of Village land or local services conducted by Croton’s outstanding employees. READ MORE AT (90) Guest Editorial: Why I am running for trustee on the Voice of Croton ticket.
CONGRATULATIONS JOSH REED--LOHUD'S "GLUE GUY"
A huge shoutout to LAX player, Josh Reed (Sr.) for being named a ‘glue guy’ by LoHud!
A glue guy is an all-around player that keeps things together on the field and provides intangible contributions.
Josh is a 3-sport athlete and played football and basketball for the Tigers. He will be heading to SUNY Cortland in the fall and plans to major in Education.
Josh, being a ‘glue guy’ is a perfect trait for a future teacher! We can totally see you succeeding in the Education Field. We are proud of you!
