A wonderful new repro of a vintage Made in Japan "green spottie" putz house by artisan Lynn. The miniature Santa is celluloid and from the 1940's.
That's followed by a scene from the
1940's drama, Since You Went Away--although your editor has seen it a dozen times or more, it's always worth another look. If you haven't seen this fine film yet, make
it a point to do so. The cast is amazing: Claudette Colbert, Jennifer
Jones, a growing up Shirley Temple, Monty Wooley, Joseph Cotton, and
more. Here's a YouTube tribute https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2lIMEmRqNw
And finally a great still from GIANT, featuring James Dean and Elizabeth Taylor. Click on the photos and enjoy!

And we've talked about this one before but it is always worth mentioning again - The Night Before Christmas by Clement C. Moore. This Charles
Graham version is circa 1870, and the first representation of Santa
Claus dressed in a red cloth coat trimmed with white fur. The type used
in this edition is Ringlet.
The artwork was devised with color overlays
on a black outline.
