The amazing jaw-dropping antique "gunship" (the Battleship Columbia) to the right was featured in a past auction at Croton's own Serioustoyz.com---it's an outstanding piece of Americana, circa 1886, made by Reed, 36", lithographed paper on wood; designed to come apart & fit inside the hull for portability; wheels under boat have been replaced by wood blocks, flags replaced & masts restrung, o/w all original & complete; some edges of paper litho are a bit ragged, o/a C7; a large, rare, & very early toy--with clean simple lines--perfect for a future putz project--scaled down of course!
That's followed by one of your editor's favorite examples of Made in Japan Christmas kitsch--a light-up, heavy "rubberized"/plastic Santa & sleigh; the original bulb burned way too hot and had to be replaced.
And finally, a close-up of Lady J's 2009 sideboard putz village; a mix of old and new pieces.
Click on the photos and enjoy!
