MORE FABULOUS VINTAGE WEBSITES, FINDS, ETC. FROM EVERYTHING CROTON

Yes it's no secret. We think Shirley Temple was simply an amazing child actress--and we loved her in Heidi. A 1937 print ad for the film.

It's followed by a scene from 1947's The Bishop Wife, starring Cary Grant, Loretta Young and David Niven. Grant is seen here as The Angel, walking amongst people in the city.

We think this is one of the best Christmas films ever--and to think it almost didn't happen. You can read more about it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bishop%27s_Wife

Now here's a wonderful Christmas scene under the tree--and the black and white really makes the shot https://www.flickr.com/photos/39527581@N07/15827115487/

Boy do we love this 1967-1968 Foster Gallagher Christmas catalog https://www.flickr.com/photos/markdpodmore/sets/72157631536694282/

Now here's something quite rare-- a purple feather tree festooned with sebnitz ornaments and cornucopia's. Amazing! http://on.fb.me/1zrga6t

  1. Some of my happiest memories are of watching The Wizard of Oz and Shirley Temple films with my nieces.

  2. Yes. We had a cardboard fireplace we bought from Sears. My mother put in sticks she found at the park and wrapped white lights around them that twinkled. I guess this was supposed to simulate a real fire! We'd watch the Yule Log on Channel 11 too.
