MORE FABULOUS VINTAGE WEBSITES, FINDS, ETC. FROM EVERYTHING CROTON

So we're dating ourselves here but how many of you remember that in the "old days"--on Thanksgiving--or the night before--the original Wizard of Oz was played on television for holiday viewing--usually on "WPIX CHANNEL 11" or "WOR CHANNEL 9"--and yes, you could always count on seeing 1934's BABES IN TOYLAND--also known as THE MARCH OF THE WOODEN SOLDIERS--starring Laurel and Hardy too....(click on the photo to see a promo ad for the film courtesy of Jinn's collection).

This year, however, at least in our neck of the woods, neither could be found.

Which is why so many of us own copies of great holiday films--if they are available--to keep such "traditions" alive.

And with all that in mind: GO HERE http://familychristmasonline.com/movies/movies.htm

And by the way BABES IN TOYLAND/THE MARCH OF THE WOODEN SOLDIERS is available here http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0024852/

Utterly charming vintage tin building that just begs for attention from our putz crafting artisans--it can be so many things--and was recently discovered by DCrowe--http://www.cardboardchristmas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=733&p=4554#p4554

    3. Wow I checked twice and it wasn't on. I wonder if it as anything to do with our losing cable and some areas got time delayed or something. Did we also miss The Wizard of Oz somehow? I didn't see that listed.

  2. Hi Maria, I think part of the problem was we were looking for it at the wee hours, now THAT's DATING OURSELVES. I heard it was on when the parade was on on Channel 11 but since so many of us didn't have cable, well at least we know we can get it and have our own copy. Do you know if 11 is doing the Yule Log this year? Frankster
